Brief History of the School.

Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Arusha and managed by the Congregation of Christian Brothers. It is a mixed school, many of whom are boarders. It was established in 1988 as a community school and managed by parents. It was known as Purka Secondary School. Brother Frank O’shea was the first Christian Brother as head of the school who succeeded Mr. Tesha in 1995. Brother Clem Barrett took over the leadership in 2008, followed by Brother Francis Nkwabi in 2012. In 2015 Brothers Simoni Kaswahili became the headmaster to date. The name was changed to Edmund Rice Sinon in 1995 when the Christian Brothers took over the management of the school. The advance level was established in 2007 with twelve combinations such as Art Subjects, Science subjects, Business subjects. The school asl offers additional subjects at O level include Music, Fine art, Computer, Carpentry, Food and Nutrition. Academically the school has consistently been performing well at all levels. A number of students have joined higher institutions including intermediate colleges and various in- country and abroad universities. A good number of alumni are serving in both government and private sectors across the country.
